Edith Marion Patch was the first woman scientist employed by the University of Maine. She earned her Masters degree at the University of Maine in 1910, and her doctorate from Cornell University in the following year. Greta Thunberg was just a teenager when she started a school strike for the climate in 2018 outside the Swedish Parliament that has since spread all over the world and now involves over 100,000 schoolchildren.
